Wintertime Floral Arrangements
The Right Looks For December, New Year’s & Valentine’s Day

I love weddings in the wintertime (at least in the Northeast, Anyway), because this is the time of year when an all white backdrop just allows bold reds, greens, and even whites a fabulous time to shimmer. A couple of thoughts for the season that I have seen that were in my humble estimation, wedding masterpieces. Remember to work with a florist who can take the ideas listed below and match them to your personality and specifications. Other weddings are a baseline to give you ideas, but you want your flowers to say something about you and your individual tastes as well, and you want your florist to take your thoughts and mold them into the wonderful presentation that you deserve.

Use poinsettias to ad a bit of season’s greetings to your ceremony and reception. They look great in lobbies and vestibules. Plus they are really inexpensive, and could allow you the flexibility to splurge on your centerpieces.
Along with your aisle runner, add white or ivory roses, and white or ivory rose bouquets to the pews at your ceremony. If done correctly, it should be snowing outside and when you get into the ceremony site, it should still feel like winter without the cold.
Use the same white roses as a delightful garnish to your cake. This will go nicely with your wedding cake decorated with coconut.
A study in contrast, same as above but with blood red roses!!! Gorgeous!
For variety, add miniature roses of a different color and hue to any bouquet above. Having the rose bouquets tied in a satin bow adds a special element.
To save a little money and add additional enhancements to your reception, consider adding candles or lanterns to your floral arrangements.

In order, to save some cost, you may want to work with a florist who is capable of turning any of the bouquets on the pews into centerpieces for your reception. Additionally, if roses are not your style, given the time of year, ask your florist about the longevity of whatever floral arrangement you choose. As in, you don’t want it to wilt, and thus if having a wedding during this season, a flower upgrade may be in order.
