Selecting a DJ of Bands - Must Do's
When it comes to the music at your wedding and your selection of a particular DJ or band, it is more than just spinning a CD with high energy vibes to pump-up your friends and family. Rather, it is more about your announcements, familiarity with your individual customs, those special dances between you and your misty-eyed father and the mother of the groom and groom, as well as someone whom you feel will best serve as your master of ceremonies.
In terms of musical selection, you need to rely on a DJ or band’s good judgment, because most people traditionally choose the interlude, recessional, first dance, father/daughter and mother/son dances, cutting the cake, garter and bouquet toss, last dance, and getaway. The rest is on your DJ or band to properly manage.
Because DJs and bands encompass approximately 10% of your wedding budget, the selection process is vital. Request an audition tape or cd. Anyone not possessing these is probably not worth the aggravation. You may even want to consult with folks who have offered their own testimonials about the individual’s service. In addition to your ear, follow your intuition. As the master of ceremonies, you need someone who can juggle the tasks of entertaining, maintaining the enthusiasm, and keeping with your predetermined schedule. Finally, whoever you choose, be assured that their personality and attitude mesh with your wedding style.
