Maid of Honor 101: Maid of Honor Duties
Saying yes to being Maid of Honor requires taking on many responsibilities. This is not to say that you won’t have fun in the process! Follow these steps to being a good friend or sister as well as a GREAT Maid of Honor!

- Helps the bride to plan the wedding.
- Help bride pick out the perfect wedding gown to awe her groom, family and friends.
- Helps direct the other bridesmaids, passes along information to other bridesmaids.
- Plans and hosts the Bridal Shower along with other bridesmaids, mother of the bride, mother of the groom and families of each.
- Plans and Hosts the bachelorette Party.
- Helps Bride address invitations, keep track of responses and track down those who did not respond.
- Helps bride put together favors, centerpieces etc.
- Helps bride and other bridesmaids pick out maid of honor gown and bridesmaid gowns, as well as pays for her own gown and accessories.
- Coordinates all gifts with the other bridesmaids for the bride’s shower/bachelorette party/wedding.
- Helps bride at fittings.
- Helps bride get dressed on wedding day, fixes brides gown during ceremony and for pictures.
- Holds brides bouquet during ceremony.
- Holds grooms ring during ceremony.
- Serves as a witness to the marriage.
- Could say a toast to the bride and groom during the ceremony.
- Wears apron and takes money for the bridal/dollar dance (polish tradition).
- Stays at the Bride’s side the day of the wedding - to hold bouquet, help into cars, pose for photographs. The maid of honor should never stray to far from the bride on the big day!
