Floral Accents for the Entire Wedding Party
From your first picture with your bridal bouquet, to your beautifully decorated alter and church pews, to your bridesmaids and groomsmen, and continuing through to the centerpieces on your tables at your wedding reception; the floral choices that you make are oftentimes the most striking part of all the pictures in your wedding album (aside from your own glorious glow, of course!). This year as bright and vibrant colors are the popular choices (including red, hot pink, blood orange, and many more varieties), here are a few clever accents for you and all the persons and places in your wedding.
A recent visit to one of the photographers on this web site showed a couple with an awe-inspiring idea for your bridal bouquets. Instead of the traditional bouquet, this lovely bride, in the spirit of ancient Athens, chose to have her bridesmaids wear delicate wreaths in their hair. It created a very unique feel, and lent much to this bride’s personality and creative spirit. Contact your florist for ideas, but stephanotis, stalks of wheat, or yellow daisies are ideal. This idea also allows you to keep your bridesmaids busy with a lovely attendant gift such as a new Chanel, Kate Spade, Hermes, or other designer purse!
Oftentimes I find at the conclusion (and for that matter during) many ceremonies, brides will have intricately designed aisle runners spanning as long as 120 feet complimented by rose petals matching their bouquets. This creates an amazing in-ceremony photograph. However, during the recessional, birdseed or confetti seems to be the order-of-the-day. Continue with the rose petal theme during your recessional, and you’ll have a much more vivid photograph.
Often times, as witnessed during our recent tuxedo giveaways, the groom’s boutonnieres are often nothing more than an afterthought. This season, think sexy and bold, and spruce it up with a mini calla lily.
For centerpieces, some of the most striking results are often accomplished with simplicity in mind. Think four dozen roses in a simple white urn with hints of bear grass. For a more flowing feel, think about a variety of monotone flowers accented with bear grass, lemon leaf, and other luscious greens. Other additions, may include candles or a striking glass vase.
